Januhairy Trend Goes Viral Women Throwing Away Razors To Let The Hair Grow

Body hair is ordinary. Some people are born with more than most, and that shouldn’t be considered weird. It’s like how a few people are actually taller than most. Body hair should be ordinary…

However, shaving is in reality even more a standard rather than not. Men can grow a facial hair growth or beard growth as indicated by their enjoying, and ladies can’t have hair anyplace other than the head. “November” is a month where men develop beard growth as they bring issues to light for men’s mental wellness.

For women, it’s Januhairy. Women all around the world let the hair grow normally like they should!

At the beginning of the 20th century, the company began selling women’s razors. After they managed to establish a clean and solid image on the “clean shaved” man, they continued to instill the notion that body hair is masculine and unhygienic. Summer fashion in the 1920s was mainly sleeveless. After it became popular, women were further encouraged to show off flawless skin and get rid of any hair.

Imagine this: before the early 20th century, body hair on a female body is NORMAL!

When a woman shaved her leg and cut herself, it became national news. It is very unusual for a woman to try to remove her body hair. It is worth mentioning that the fashion at the time was still relatively conservative. Most of the body except the hands were hidden, but it was still considered the standard for performers such as actors and dancers.

The marketers were smart to avoid using the masculine word ‘shaving.’ They will attempt to use every other positive, feminine adjectives, such as smooth, to sell their product.

Prejudice for body hair, however, seems to have existed before the ads.

Within a year or two, shaving the legs until they become smooth becomes the norm. It is difficult for experts to say whether this rapid change in women’s behavior and perception of body hair will change so rapidly in just 10-20 years of advertising.

In addition, experts have found that advertising history seems to imply that women use hair removal products to remove body hair only when needed. In other words, they only use it when they know they will expose their body parts in a public place.

The Januhairy campaign was started in 2018 by Laura Jackson, a student.

Laura told Metro, “I thought of making Januhairy to help women feel they are in a safe space to challenge the embedded norms of shaving.”

Since the pandemic and lockdown, women have found that they buy fewer razors and other hair removal products. Social distancing can be a huge effect, preventing women from dressing in these areas.

Laura added, “We’ve long suspected that women mainly remove hair for other people, not themselves, and lockdown proves that.”

Shaving your body hair should not be requirement, but a choice!

This is similar to how women choose whether to lose weight and exercise. As long as it is a healthy lifestyle, no one has a say in how you choose to treat your body. Body hair can actually help you date! This is because armpit hair helps capture natural body odor and enhance pheromones. Most people find that natural body odor can relieve stress.

Your body hair is normal and in fact, they have functions. Try it before the month ends!
