Jimmy Nelson is a photographer who recently published his second major project under the title “Homage to Humanity.” Nelson visited 34 indigenous cultures on five different continents. While his first book, “Before They Pass Away”, was a collection of pictures of over 30 vanishing tribes from all around the globe, this time the photographer decided to expand and added travel journals, local facts, maps, and personal interviews, shifting his focus from the objects he captures to the journey itself.
In his work, the photographer explores the idea of reconnecting to our roots and humanity, and he thinks that indigenous people play an essential role in our perception of ourselves as humans. That’s why he is inviting everybody to join the global discussion on cultural identity.
Nelson is also planning to release a movie featuring 1500 photos, “all stitched together into one amazing journey across the cradle of human culture.”
