Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday that he will take Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine if it’s approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
The infectious disease expert made the announcement when asked by MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell if he would take the antibody that Pfizer said Monday was proven to be 90% effective.
“I will take a gander at the information, but I trust Pfizer. I trust the FDA. These are associates of dig for quite a long time, the career scientists,” Fauci said.
“If they look at this data, and they state this information is strong, how about we feel free to approve it, I guarantee you, I will take the antibody, and I will suggest that my family take the vaccine.”
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Monday that the promising vaccine could be administered to people by the end of the year.
But experts warned of potential distribution challenges, as the vaccine must be stored at extremely cold temperatures.
