Non-Binary Student Shuts Up Haters With Their Confidence After Embracing Their Natural Hair

Barbara Hovermale, a non-binary college student from Richmond, Virginia, started shaving at the age of 9, and after embracing her natural hair, the non-binary student turned off the haters confidently. As children, like most of us, we listen to people’s opinions and are afraid of their negative comments. Whether our hair really bothers us is not important; what people say is always more important.

Fearing social pressure, Barbara Hovermale finally decided not to shave her legs and underarm hair. The 20-year-old girl said her boyfriend “completely embraced them when they came.”

Barbara Hovermale shared that her partner Jayvien Peakf (Jayvien Peakf) prompted them to give up beauty treatments. For whatever reason, rude comments appear on his TikTok videos from time to time. Although Barbara only tells other women not to feel the pressure to shave because they are afraid of social pressure, they will receive comments about how long her body hair is and comments about fat phobia.

Barbara has gone viral again and again whenever they share just how lovey-dovey they are with their partners. Enviable!

They also responded to negative comments in the way they wanted without apology. They once wrote in response to a TikTok user: Poor man, you may have more legs than him. The student shared, “He might shake that person because he was like,’Oh, do you mean that someone’s partner is really attracted to that?

They shared that they once had to do shaving very frequently because they got involved into competitive swimming.

Barbara admitted, “I think it’s funny because there’s no doubt that I have more body hair than my partner. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.” They like to include their partners in videos because it shows people them The comfort level of getting along with each other. It can also help them deal with the negative emotions expressed by some users. “When I met him, I had body hair, and he admired and valued me very much from the beginning,” Barbara recalled.

“He just realized that every part of my body is part of Barb, and that is the one he loves. We look at each other, and sometimes we appreciate all the details,  which I think is great.” He continued. “The hair on my legs is very soft, because sometimes I will condition it. If we hug each other, he will touch it and play with it. This is a comfort, and it is something he likes to touch. ”

Before Jayvien, their previous partner was not really fond of body hair and it put a hold on Barbara’s intention to stop shaving.

They recalled: “The first time I wanted to shave, the thought in my mind was that I was in love with a boy,” God, everyone around me shaved their legs. “I remember asking mom if I could shave myself. The obsession with me.” “Looking back now, I really hate that it was the mentality that was the first time I wanted to participate, because I realized I was accepting Social norms.” Jayview is the one who “pushed” Barbara to “quit”. Barbara is now an outspoken advocate of physical positivity because they can finally be themselves on TikTok.

Their first experience on social media was awkward as they never met anyone with a similar body type. But they now “feel really proud” and admits to being “big on talking about ‘past Barb’ and ‘future Barb.'”

Plus, they feel “so confident” that negative comments never really bothered them that much.

After becoming popular on the platform, Barbara shared that they received messages from many people who were encouraged to stop shaving and be able to look at themselves more neutrally. They recalled a happy memory: “Someone in my live broadcast said that they wore a bikini for the first time in their lives because they saw me wearing a bikini.” “This kind of thing is so wonderful, because this is where I started. Goals and intentions when posting on TikTok.”
