A driver stabbed three pro-Armenian protesters who were obstructing traffic during a rally in California,, a report said.
The suspect, 41-year-old Jaime Fonseca, purportedly launched into a wrath when the crowd blocked his vehicle at a bustling crossing point in Fresno on Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Times detailed.
Fonseca purportedly escaped his vehicle with a knife and a wooden baton and went up against the marchers, who were carrying pro-Armenia signs and anti-Turkish banners, as indicated by the report.
He at that point purportedly began destroying the signs, stabbing the three people as he sliced them with the knife, the report said.
In a statement, Fresno police told the newspaper that it did not appear to be a hate crime or politically motivated.
“There were no statements made regarding race or indicating this is a hate crime,” they told the newspaper.
Armenian Americans have been protesting across the US this month to draw attention to a brutal conflict between the country and neighbor Azerbaijan over disputed territory.
