Have you ever watched a movie and spotted something on-screen and gone “Woah! What was that!” before scrambling around for the remote control, pausing the movie, and rewinding back to that specific spot? Well if you have then you’ll understand how certain scenes become the most paused movie moments ever. So what are the most paused moments of all time? Well, you’re about to find out. Here are 28 Most Paused Movie Moments of All Time.
From steamy moments that we can’t help but replay to scenes where extras mess up big time, there’s a lot of pause-worthy moments in Hollywood history. Some movies even give us clues as to what will happen later on, or evidence that suggests new movies of the same franchise will be coming out soon. Let’s face it, we all love being the detectives when it comes to our favorite movies!
Here The List of Most Paused Movie Moments of All Time :
1- Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
If you have ever seen the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, then you’ll know that nearly every single person watching the video paused it during the swimming scene with Linda and Stacy, and we can’t blame them… Stacy’s big brother Brad is looking out for his sister Stacy and her friend Linda whilst the two girls splash around swimming in the pool. Phoebe Cates plays Linda Barrett, and when she climbs up the steps to get out the pool, we see her in a very small red bikini. Then she takes it off. Pause!

2- Wild Things (1998)
If you thought Phoebe Cates’ little strip off at the pool was steamy, then you’ll probably have found this even steamier. Neve Campbell and Denise Richards absolutely destroyed any X-rating that Fast Times had by both making out with each other in the pool and then removing their bikini tops. It was the lesbian scene that everyone wanted to see and was probably the main reason why Wild Things ever was a success.
3- Basic Instinct (1992)
This is in all of the top 10 lists in flash list history, and with good reason. Sharon Stone beats the LAPD single-handedly with a quick shift in her legs. That quick exposure to her lady parts stays a repeat performance frozen on many TVs.
4- Scanners (1981)
David Cronenberg’s sci-fi thriller became the stuff of meme legend right as it starts. The iconic moment when a telepath uses his power to explode someone’s head was completely unexpected. It’s funnier now that the special effects team revealed how they pulled it off.
5- Cabin in the Woods (2012)
Did you ever watch Cabin in the Woodswhen it came out in 2012? Well then, you’ll remember that moment that the scientists are deciphering what will happen to the main characters. In the background, there is a whiteboard with a list of different creatures on it that the scientists are controlling. But due to the extensive list, lots of members of the audience have paused the movie to read the list to see what else they have in their grasps including mutants, zombies, clowns, and witches.
6- Wizard of Oz (1939)
Since the movie was made and released back in 1939, it seems almost crazy that so many people spotted this in a particular scene. But it happens out that one of the backgrounds of the movie shows what the official story describes as a bird, but lots of viewers have interpreted or believe to be a munchkin that has hanged himself.
7- Teen Wolf (1985)
Somehow, at the very end of the movie, just a few moments before crowds begin to cheer and whoop, viewers notice that there was a man stood in the background of the scene, with his pants down. It might be a great family movie, but how on earth that managed to get into the movie is beyond me! Was he just flying low, or… is there something else we can see?
8- The Little Mermaid (1989)
There’s the coral shaped like a penis, the entire package in King Titan’s golden castle, and lastly of course there is the priest who gets a little too excited at the wedding. How on earth those managed to get into a kids’ movie is pretty hysterical, but also highly inappropriate. No wonder there have been a few edits in the new versions!
9- Fight Club (1999)
Did you ever spot Brad Pitt on screen in scenes before we even met his character in the movie? The twist ending between Brad Pitt and Edward Norton is one of cinema classics, but it’s also not one of its most hidden.Tyler is “introduced” four times in small flashes before his appearance on the flight scene. You have to pause at the right time to get a glimpse of them.
10- Total Recall (1990)
In Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi take on Mars, the prostitute has a little extra that will pause the movie instantly. She tries enticing Arnold Schwarzenegger by showing the goods — not two but three breasts. This is a definite favorite with many fans for the hilarity of the scene.
11- Psycho (1960)
That monologue and demented smile while he looks at the audience are the stuff of nightmares. What is creepier is that slight appearance of the skull before the movie changes into the final shot. He wouldn’t harm a fly but he will haunt you forever.
12- Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
It’s the scene from the Wolf of Wall Street where Margot Robbie gives Leonardo DiCaprio’s character blue balls, so as to speak. Margot Robbie’s character in Martin Scorsese’s movie really transformed her into the sex icon of the 21st Century, along with Scarlett Johansson. But this is the one moment where many people pause the movie, as Margot Robbie touches herself.
13- The Lion King (1994)
Leave it to an Academy Award-winning movie to have a dirty Easter egg. Simba drops on the ground and out comes a puff of dust that had swirls making out “S”, “X”, and… is it an “F” or is an “E”? Depends on how much of a pervert you are.
14- Boogie Nights (1997)
This comedy-drama got all sorts of reviews when it first came out in 1997, but the only thing that everybody who had seen the movie could talk about was the size of Mark Wahlberg’s… well, ding-dong let’s say.
15- Tron (1982)
The actor Jeff Bridges who plays Kevin Flynn / Clu in the movie can be spotted in one scene (pause the screen to make certain) with Pac-Man. Yep, it’s the truth, Pac-Man is there eating all of those yellow dots just in the background of the screen that Jeff is staring into. Can you believe it?
16- Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)
This might be the only stormtrooper in the Empire to actually hit something. The sad part is that it’s himself, if you pause it at look to the right. He gives the sliding door a good knock with his noggin while the rest get through just fine.
17- Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999)
Three aliens that were of E.T.’s species were added to the scene in the Galactic Senate, as E.T. was Steven Spielberg’s movie. It came after Steven Spielberg had done the same thing for George Lucas, by putting one of his characters from E.T. in a Yoda costume to give a little nod of respect to one another, as well as to tickle fans pink.
18- Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
As Rey approaches Luke Skywalker, there’s a shot in the scene where Luke stands gravely stood by a piece of rock that looks as if it could be a gravestone. Many fans have paused this movie time and time again, trying to work out why Luke Skywalker is standing there by himself, and what that rock is, if it’s anything. Soon, I am sure they will find out.
19- Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988)
It is known that Jessica Rabbit is probably the most sexualized cartoon character to ever have existed, but can you believe that everyone paused their screens in the scene where she goes commando?!
20- Three Men and a Baby (1987)
There was an urban legend that came out of this wholesome family comedy that gave it a dark twist. The story goes that a nine-year-old boy committed suicide in the house where the movie was being filmed. Everyone pauses the movie to confirm if there is a ghostly boy standing by the window. One scene makes it look as if there is a boy stood behind the characters staring at them from another parallel universe, it’s creepy. Apparently, it was actually just a cardboard cutout of a man, or specifically, Ted Danson. Weird, huh?
21- Jurassic World (2015)
So, pterodactyls are flying around the park and people are screaming and running away. But not this man. If you can believe it, this man is Jimmy Buffett, and yes, he is carrying two margaritas, one in either hand. He is absolutely determined to get his drink down before the dinosaurs eat him alive. He’s still looking for the straws too.
22- Iron Man (2008)
Tony Stark has his robots fix his suit in the first Iron Man, and fans get the first Avengers-related Easter egg for a second when Gwyneth Paltrow shows up. When you pause it, you see a disassembled red and white shield laying on top of other gadgets. A sign of awesome things to come.
23- Man of Steel (2013)
The one we particularly have to mention is the reference to the Batman-Superman movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It might have also been three years prior to the release of the crossover of superheroes, but in Man of Steel, you might have seen this pointer – whilst fighting in space, Superman lobs a satellite… a satellite with the Wayne Enterprises logo!
24- The Rescuers (1977)
In the movie the Rescuers, Disney managed to get a couple of very naughty and noteworthy shots in of a naked woman getting changed in her room. How on earth did they manage to do this?! It’s in the scene where the little mice are flying past a building in their empty can of sardines, and she’s there in the window, totally starkers! Cheeky, huh?
25- Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
The character of Dr. René Belloq is a notorious one in the Indiana Jones movies, and in the first one Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark the character is played by Paul Freeman. Now, Paul Freeman is a great actor, and even greater for this moment. In one scene, he continues to deliver his line, even whilst a fly crawls into his mouth. We all thought it was gross, but Paul kept going. Good on you, Mr. Freeman.
26- Signs (2002)
What did that alien look like anyway? Well, it was time for us to grab our remotes then pause and rewind the movie once again. And yep, it was exactly as we had thought, perhaps hoped, and definitely expected. A scary-looking green beast that nobody could mistake for anything other than an alien. Cool.
27- Burn After Reading (2008)
That’s a good thing, if, like me you really can’t stand violence or any sort of gore. But Burn After Reading was one movie that made an awful lot of people reach for their remotes to stop the movie, rewind it, and playback certain moments because of how fast they happened. Take for instance when Brad Pitt’s character is shot whilst he’s in the closet, it happens os fast, you wonder if it actually hit him or not.
28- She’s The Man (2006)
Amanda Bynes plays a girl who dresses as a guy to play on the soccer team. When she has to pull up her jersey to prove that she’s, in fact, a girl, many a teenage boy stopped to see if they could sneak a peek. in Of course there wasn’t anything; the movie was PG-13.
