President Trump early Wednesday blamed political opponents for attempting to “STEAL the Election” in a tweet that was flagged by the social media giant due to their “civic integrity policy.”
Trump additionally proclaimed a “major WIN” for his campaign, and prodded a further statement as the votes streamed in.
“We are up BIG, however they are trying to STEAL the Election,” wrote Trump as his adversary, former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden, was conveying brief comments in Wilmington, Delaware.
“We will never let them do it. Votes can’t be projected after the Poles [sic] are shut!” added Trump, including a grammatical error he later altered.
Moments after the initial tweet about Democrats trying to “STEAL” the election, Twitter flagged the post with a warning for making a “potentially misleading claim about an election.”
Trump also said that he would follow Biden in addressing the American people early Wednesday.
“I will be making a statement tonight,” he wrote. “A big WIN!”
Early returns have been largely devoid of upsets — save a Biden win in Arizona — but final totals in the key swing states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan aren’t expected anytime soon.
