President-elect Joe Biden will give his first post-election TV interview to Lester Holt of NBC News, the network declared Monday.
The interview will air Tuesday at 6:30 pm on “NBC Nightly News.” Additional clips will air Wednesday on the “Today” show and cable channel MSNBC.
Holt hosted a questionable campaign town hall occasion with Biden a month ago that critics slammed as an “infomercial” for the Democratic candidate.
Two of the “uncertain” electors who asked Biden inquiries at the Holt-moderated town hall had showed up on MSNBC in August to help Biden.
It’s unclear when exactly the interview will be conducted.
Biden recently has held few media engagements as he leads his presidential transition from Delaware. Last week, the former vice president snapped at a reporter who asked him about whether he would encourage teachers unions to support in-person learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Why are you the only guy that always shouts out questions?” Biden scolded journalist Bo Erickson of CBS News.
Biden gave fewer interviews and press conferences than President Trump during the campaign, and often interviewers gave him noticeably warm treatment — for example, he faced no questions at an ABC News town hall in October about The Post’s reporting on his apparent links to son Hunter Biden’s business pursuits in China and Ukraine.
Trump, who was interviewed by Holt in 2017, trashed the NBC News anchor for his Biden town hall.
“Did anyone get to see that absolute ‘Joke’ of a Town Hall interview that Joe Biden did with Concast @NBCNews , hosted by Lester Holt?” Trump tweeted at the time. “What a disgrace to our Country that FREE public airwaves can be used that way. All SOFTBALLS. A big FIX. Time should be paid by the corrupt DNC!”
