President-elect Joe Biden has allegedly picked Rochelle Walensky — chief of infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital — to run the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Walensky will succeed Robert Redfield, who has been driving the government office since March 2018, two sources with information moving told Politico.
Under Biden, the CDC is relied upon to accept more responsibility amid the pandemic than under President Trump, the report said.
Biden is relied upon to freely declare his nomination of Walensky this week.
In another top health position in Biden’s Cabinet, the president-elect has reportedly tapped California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to be his health secretary.
